Regular morning 5K run

This time of year 8am is a good start time as the sun is rising but it can start out a bit cold but warms up a few degrees during the run…

This is my regular route:

and finally a tostada con tomate with olive oil and salt, washed down by a cafe con leche at my favourite breakfast cafe: El Tapeo (the tapas):

Our Swimming Pool is still out of action

This is what it should look like…

or even better!

but this is what it currently looks like!

It is looking increasingly unlikely that the pool will have been repaired until Spring 2021.

But we still have the sea

just 10 minutes walk away, so life is still bearable.

Walk to Lobres and beyond

Did a lovely walk to Lobres and into the hills beyond. Used this wikiloc walk but got a cab home from Lobres rather than walking back to Salobreña (it was half 8 in the evening and we were getting hungry): https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/la-ruta-de-culo-de-la-gallina-2-12653994. I’d recommend doing that actually – looked like the final stretch back wouldn’t be that exciting.

We weren’t that keen on the initial route out of Salobreña – on a road rather than a path – but it quickly got better. Took an alternative route at one point and passed some dogs (including an Alsatian) – not recommended for Gill!

We had a quick drink when we got to Lobres. Looks like there’s only one bar in town (!) but there are a couple of supermarkets too if you’re low on water.

Then off into the hills north of Lobres. Lovely! A few exciting parts of the walk including a tunnel, a bridge and a herd of goats.

Overall an easy walk with only a gentle bit of uphill and some beautiful views!

Amunecar Market

On 4 May we went to the Friday market in Almenucar – a very Spanish affair selling a mixture of cheap and cheerful with locally produced more interesing stuff (mainly clothing). Apparently on Sundays they have a flea market (watch out for future posts on this!)
