A pleasant two and a half hour walk from Salobrena via el campo and then along the beach. We passed a nice beach area with parking – Playas del Delta del Guadalfeo and eventually past a fine brutalist church.

This time being a Sunday and the Festival of Crosses, La Katena was crammed and hectic, thus a long wait and average food. Much better last time.

A nice family run hotel on C/Mediterrano where we had breakfast on 6 May 2018. They had made a cross for the Festival of the Crosses.

Day trip to Nerja. Car parking available up near the Parador at Parking Carabeo in C/Prol. Hernando de Carabeo above Play Burriana where there are loads of beachfront cafes for grilled sardines eg Restaurante Merendero Moreno and also the world’s best icecream shop near by. Had supper at Playa Y Sol which was overpriced, full of Brits and nothing special.

A short walk down the steps from Plaza Ayuntiamento takes you to this bar (well signposted). Last time in November we sat outside but inside this time. Very cosy and nice. No Van Morrison playing at all!

The start of the pub crawl. In Plaza Ayuntiamento near the museum, high up on the rock in the old town. Had Rioja and tapas – food looked good, but had more bars to visit!

This is on the beach with the boat where they smoke/cook squid. Second time we’ve been – very decent paella.

In Avenida del Mediterraneo, on the way down to the beach, on the right. This became our firm favorite for breakfast along side the many workmen of Salobrena. Very good value (helped by getting bill wrong at times we suspect), eg four coffees and two pan (jam, tomato/ham) just 5 Euro.

Calle Diaz Del Moral
Had tapas here for supper the day we arraved and as usual it came free with the Rioja and was very good (especially the enslata mixta). Not many places open cos out of season but this place was buzzing.
